READY. SET. GLOW!
It’s the most beautiful time of the year and with the festivities approaching fast, we want beautiful, glowing skin! Pre-party preparations can include minor tweaks and skin boosting treatments such as lasers, peels and light therapy in the office, but flawless, effortless looking skin means continued skin prepping. In the midst of winter madness, here are a few of my tips to ensure you look your best!
Keep it Clean & Exfoliate
Preparation is essential to beautiful skin. As we all know, a good cleanser is the cornerstone of a successful skincare routine. Cleansing helps remove makeup and excess sebum, minimise pores, soothes irritation and helps to balance the skin. CLEANSE & CLARIFY Dual Action AHA Cleanser & Mask is a light, detergent-free, dual action alpha hydroxy acid cleanser and bi-weekly mask that gently removes make-up, dead skin and general pollutants and exfoliates to freshen, tone and brighten skin without stripping moisture.
Treatments
If time permits, have a treatment to help exfoliate, hydrate and nourish. I recommend a light fruit acid peel combined with microdermabrasion and LED light followed by a hydration mask. But if you are like me, dashing between school plays, work and social engagements, there is never enough time. Instead, apply an at-home face mask to remove impurities and dead skin cells. MZ Skin’s RADIANCE & RENEWAL Instant Clarity Refining Mask is like a facial treatment in a tube. It re-texturizes the skin, calms skin and leaves your complexion totally glowing.
Skin boosters
Party season combined with the winter skin means we are more prone to dryness, flakes, redness and a tendency for skin issues to become exacerbated. LIFT & LUSTRE Golden Elixir Antioxidant Serum is perfect to hydrate, nourish and protect from these external conditions. Packed with active ingredients and a beautiful golden shimmer, this decadent serum will instantly give a plumped-up, smooth and glowy base while restoring the skins protective barrier. Well hydrated dewy skin achieved in minutes.
Skin Brightener
Late nights can mean over indulgence in a drink or two, late eating, sleep deprivation and high sugar intake leaving skin looking dull, lacklustre and tired. Do not forget to treat your skin with antioxidants. Vitamin C is ideal all year round as an impactful antioxidant that can keep skin bright, hydrated and protected.
It’s all about the neck and chest
Never forget the décolleté especially in the season of the little black dress. Use a gentle body scrub or brush every morning. Swap your regular body lotion with one with lactic acid to help dissolve rough patches without irritating the skin. And don’t forget to continue our facial treatments down to your neck
Spot treatment when necessary
Extractions and emergency cortisone injections to zap cystic spots will help flatten them quickly and can be easily covered with appropriate concealer. I recommend Oxygenetix for a light overall glow with coverage or if you need something stronger, Dermablend to cover any blemishes.
Have a drink
But not the one you are thinking! Increase your water intake to keep yourself hydrated and counter the effects of alcohol and caffeine. Hydration helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and makes skin glow.
Think Green
Fruits and vegetables loaded with antioxidants help rid your body of free radicals that make your skin look older. Make sure your diet is filled with Omega 3, 6 and 9 to help combat inflammation and maintain the health of the skin and hair. Avoid salty foods for at least two to three days prior to a party to prevent puffy eyes.
Beauty is not just skin deep. Commitment to a routine is essential – sleep, nutrition, exercise and skincare work together to make you the best version of yourself. A little party never hurt nobody, as they say, and is food for the soul. Enjoy your friends and family in the most beautiful time of the year!
