Vitamin E, is commonly used an antioxidant and a skin conditioning active that helps fight premature ageing. Mostly commonly used in skincare products, it protects the skin from pollution and UV rays and has excellent anti-inflammatory and healing properties. When we step out, pollution and the sun rays lead to the formation of free radicals that cause premature ageing but this damage can be lessened and reversed because of Vitamin E. Although, it does not function as a sunscreen, any damage caused by the sun such as erythema (sunburn) or any UV induced damage can be reduced by the application of Vitamin E.
Application of Vitamin E topically, also helps reduce skin wrinkles, improves the moisture content of the skin by making it more permeable, lightens, and smooths rough skin. Additionally, it also helps treat dry and cracked cuticles. Vitamin E can be found in a wide range of foods such as nuts, cereals, soya, corn, sunflower oil; skincare products in conjunction with other vitamins; and separately as Vitamin E oil or capsules.
Often said to work best when combined with other vitamins, Vitamin E helps maintain the overall health of our eyes and skin and strengthens our immunity system.
