Jojoba oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant “Simmondsia chinensis” a plate native to the North American continent. It has natural antibacterial properties and has long been used by native Americans to treat wounds. This is due to its high iodine content and ability to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, which is essential to repair skin.
Sebum is naturally produced by the skin to moisturise and keep the skin supple. This production can decrease with age; which can lead to dry skin, wrinkles and dandruff. Jojoba oil has a similar structure to the naturally occurring sebum and can help supplement the oil in the skin, thus reducing dry skin and wrinkles and making it a natural treatment for eczema. Furthermore, it can help balance naturally occurring oil levels in oily skin, helping maintain the optimal balance of skin hydration whilst preventing acne breakouts.
Jojoba oil is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins which absorb harmful free radicals in the skin and thus prevent damage to the skin. This means that skin remains healthier and ages slower
