A Letter From Our Founder: Ten Years of MZ SKIN

Ten years ago, oculoplastic surgeon Dr Maryam Zamani began formulating skincare in the margins of clinic days, driven by a simple conviction: that skincare deserved the same rigour as medicine. That belief became MZ SKIN. A decade on, to mark the anniversary, Maryam has written directly to the community that built the brand alongside her.

Ten Years of Science. Of Skin. And the People Who Made it Possible.

When I started mixing creams, first for myself, then quietly sharing them with patients who asked, I had no idea I was building the foundations of a brand. I was simply a surgeon who believed skincare should be intelligent and feel indulgent, that efficacy and ritual are not opposites, but partners.

Ten years ago, MZ SKIN began with a simple belief: that skincare should be held to the same standards as medicine. That luxury should never come at the expense of efficacy. And that caring for your skin should be as joyful as it is transformative.

What I wanted, and could not find, were formulations that spoke to skin the way medicine does: with precision, with evidence, with genuine care for results. So I created them. In the lab, in the margins of long clinic days and surgery, through countless iterations, more lessons than I could have ever imagined, through the tears and the triumphs, in deadlines that felt both impossible and ever so exciting.

A decade later, I am still that person, still formulating, still questioning, still holding every product to the same standard I hold every procedure. But I am also so much more than I was then, because of you: the customers who became advocates, the patients who became friends, the editors and buyers and beauty lovers who saw what we were doing and chose to be part of it, and of course my team, who help me create it all.

Looking back over the past decade, I feel incredibly proud, not simply because MZ SKIN is now loved around the world, but because it has remained true to its original purpose. Every formula continues to be developed with the same attention to detail, the same curiosity and the same uncompromising standards that guide me as a surgeon.

One of my favourite memories remains standing in Harrods on the day of our launch and hearing my young daughter proudly tell anyone walking by, "That's my mummy." In that quiet moment, every late night, every challenge and every sacrifice suddenly felt worthwhile.

This anniversary is more than a celebration of ten years. It is a reminder of why I started.

My belief has never changed. The most beautiful skin is healthy skin. The best aesthetic results are the ones that never look obvious. And true luxury is found in products that are grounded in science, crafted with integrity and used with joy.

This letter is a love letter to that decade. Thank you for believing in MZ SKIN. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey. It has been the privilege of my career.
